Assessing the Pre-Test Probability of Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Thank you for your interest in our research study entitled, "Assessing the Pre-Test Probability of Inflammatory Bowel Disease", being led by Dr. Laura Targownik and Dr. Grace Wang, from Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This study is funded by a Mount Sinai Hospital Research Grant and by a University of Toronto Resident Research Grant.

This study will aim to understand how gastroenterologists and gastroenterology trainees practicing in the United States of America and Canada assess the likelihood of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) in patients referred to them with ambiguous gastrointestinal symptoms.

If you agree to participate in this study, you will be asked to do complete a demographics questionnaire about yourself and your practice (1 minute), review a hypothetical patient referral to a gastroenterologist (2-3 minutes), and finally, estimate likelihood of the hypothetical patient having IBD (1 minute). The total time required for participation is expected to be less than 5 minutes

The first 500 participants who complete the survey will receive a $5 Starbucks e-gift card in appreciation for your time and commitment.

We can assure you that the study survey will not be collecting any information that will make it possible to identify you. After completion of the survey you will be taken to a different link to collect an email address for the purposes of sending a Starbucks e-gift card. There will be no way to link the survey responses to your email address.

Continuing through this survey will imply that you have consented to participate in this study, and for the study investigators to use any data collected for analytic purposes.
