Phase 3 Survey

The City of Parksville began developing a Transportation Master plan in 2023, completing two phases of community engagement (November 2023 and April 2024). We are now in the third phase of engagement and need your feedback to determine if we’re on the right track.

If you were not able to attend the open house on October 1, the information presented is available here. As well, the results of the phase 1 and 2 may be viewed on Let’s Talk Parksville. The insights and feedback from these previous engagement phases are being used to generate recommendations for improvements to the transportation network which also includes costing and implementation-planning to be incorporated in the final Transportation Master Plan document.

The Transportation Master Plan will serve as a guiding strategic document to address current and future needs for all modes (auto, pedestrian, transit, cycling, and micro-mobility) along with emergency services and goods movement to support the objectives of the City’s Official Community Plan. The goal is to provide a safe, efficient and accessible transportation network to support a high quality of life for residents and efficient mobility for all.

#1 HITTING THE MARK

The recommendations are the result of the analysis, community engagement and feedback, and planning and policy work conducted throughout the TMP process.

#2 ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT

While we have tried to account for all suggestions and ideas, there is a need for compromise, balance, and pragmatism in developing a realistic TMP that can be delivered and as such, not all ideas can be included.

#3 PRIORITIES

A phasing and implementation plan will be included in the TMP report, and it is important to understand where the most critical improvements can be made.

Please refer to the list of key projects currently recommended within the emerging Transportation Master Plan and presented at the October 1 open house.

#4 DELIVERY

Cost levels for all projects have been indicated, at a high level, along with potential funding support opportunities, but the reality is that the City will need to pay for many of the proposed improvements over the coming years and there is a direct relationship between what the City can do and what funds are available.

Thank you for taking the time to participate in Parksville’s Transportation Master Plan. Comments from this survey will be included in the final report. For more information on the project, refer to LetsTalkParksville.ca/Tranportation-Plan
