Group Benefits for City Elected Officials

Parksville Council passed a resolution directing staff to undertake public engagement about the possibility of the City providing an extended health benefits package to elected officials at the City's cost. The information collected through this survey will inform the Council remuneration review that occurs prior to the October 2026 local government election.

For background on this initiative, please refer to the City’s website.

To provide elected officials with an extended health and dental plan similar to City staff, the estimated cost to the City ranges from $16,304 and $40,912 per year or between $65,217 and $163,650 over a four-year term. These estimates assume all seven members of Council opt in to coverage, and the range depends on individual versus family coverage rates.
